There has been an important update to the Blue Card requirements that affects parent volunteers who participate in overnight excursions and camps from Saturday, 20 September 2025.

As of recent amendments to the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000, the previous exemption allowing parents to volunteer on overnight excursions or camps without a Working with Children Check (Blue Card) no longer applies

While this doesn’t impact our supervising camp parents in 2025, it is important that families are aware that for our 2026 camps:

• Parent volunteers attending overnight excursions or camps must now hold a valid Blue Card.
• Volunteer parents need to apply for and receive their positive Blue Card notice and have this linked to the school prior to the overnight activity OR
• Volunteer parents existing Volunteer or Paid Blue Card is linked to the school prior to the overnight activity
